VibeBuddy

A desk pet that watches your AI agents.

VibeBuddy sits next to your keyboard and keeps an eye on Claude Code, Codex and your GitHub Actions runs. When an agent needs you, finishes or fails, it tells you with an animation, a task card and a short spoken line. While agents work, it stays quiet.

See it work

Meet VibeBuddy.

Plays from YouTube. English and Chinese subtitles.

On the box

One glance tells you who needs you.

Up to three task cards, newest on top. Each shows the agent (CC Claude Code, CX Codex, CI GitHub Actions), the session name, the project, and how long it has been in its current state. These are real captures from the box.

Working: a firmware build in progress

Working

The buddy types along. No sound. Keep coding.

Input required: an agent waiting for a review

Input required

An agent is waiting on you. The buddy says so out loud, once.

Done: a completed test run

Done

The task finished. You hear it and see how long it took.

Failed: a failed test run

Failed

A run broke. You find out now, not when you next check the tab.

Ready: the buddy waiting for activity

Ready

Nothing going on. It shows what got done today.

Many agents

Claude Code, Codex and CI on one screen, all at once.

Why a box

Stop babysitting the terminal.

Long agent runs mean either watching a spinner or forgetting the session for twenty minutes. VibeBuddy watches for you and speaks up only when it matters.

Speaks only when it matters

One short spoken line when an agent needs input, finishes or fails. Silent while agents work. Pick from two English and two Chinese voices, and set the volume in the app.

Jump straight back

Press K2 to bring up the most recent session, the card on top. Long-press to mute.

CI with zero setup

GitHub Actions runs are read through the gh CLI you're already signed in to, for repos your agents touched in the last hour.

Private by design

The hook forwards only session IDs, event names and the working directory. Never prompts, replies, transcripts or tool results.

Today's stats

When nothing is going on, it cycles through what got done today, and now and then does a little something.

Anything can talk to it

Any script that can make an HTTP request can put a card on the box, through the open VibeBuddy Protocol.

Three modes

On duty, focused, or off playing.

Default

On duty

Watches your agents and calls you when something happens.

On duty mode watching an agent
K1 to switch

Pomodoro

25 minutes of focus, 5 of break. K0 starts, pauses and resumes. Each phase ends with a chime and a spoken line. Runs entirely on the box.

Pomodoro focus timer running
When idle

Leisure

After a quiet stretch the buddy goes off to play: kicking a ball, reading, counting stars. Later it dozes, and at night the backlight goes off. Any agent activity brings it straight back on duty.

FAQ

Questions before you join.

When can I buy VibeBuddy?

Pre-orders are open now. Each unit is hand-assembled and tested, and pre-orders ship from October 14.

How much does it cost?

$69 with free worldwide shipping. Until October 14 (11:59 pm Pacific), the early-bird price is $59. We won't extend the early-bird window.

Can I cancel my pre-order?

Yes. Cancel any time before your VibeBuddy ships and we'll refund you in full: email vibekeys-customer-support@secondstate.io with your order number. After it ships, you have 30 days from delivery to exchange it for a manufacturing defect or shipping damage (return policy).

Which agents does it work with?

Claude Code and Codex connect through local hooks that the app sets up for you. GitHub Actions runs are read with the gh CLI you're already signed in to. Any local program or script can also send events over HTTP.

Does it read my prompts or code?

No. The hook only forwards session and turn IDs, event names and the working directory. It never forwards prompts, assistant replies, transcripts or tool results.

Does it work on Windows?

Not yet. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later. x86_64 Linux with systemd works as an experimental option.

Does it need Wi-Fi or a battery?

No. One USB-C cable to your computer powers the box and carries events. The Pomodoro timer keeps running on the box even without the computer.

Can I build my own?

Yes. VibeBuddy is open source under GPL-3.0. The firmware, the app and the hardware notes are in the GitHub repository, so you can build and flash your own for free.

I have a VibeKeys Max. Do I need this?

They do different jobs. Max is the control surface you press and talk to. Buddy sits on the desk and calls you when any agent, or CI, needs attention, so you don't have to look.
